Teams and pools confirmed for School Sports 7s

School 7s Championship will take place at Pirates Club in Greenside from 5 to 6 October 2018.

Participating teams:
Group A: Paul Roos Gymnasium, Middelburg High Technical School, Daniel Pienaar High School, Pietersburg High School
Group B: Grey College, Drostdy High Technical School, Northern Cape High School, Grens High School
Group C: Glenwood High School, Lichtenburg High School, Henties Cilliers High School, Birchleigh High School
Group D: Oakdale High School, Oos Moot High School, Randburg High School

The 15 high school teams won their respective provincial qualifying competitions or were the highest-ranking qualifying team, which took place from 31 August to 15 September. Approximately 260 schools took part in the weekly series and the schools represent all the SA Rugby Unions - Blue Bulls, Boland, Border, Cheetahs, Eastern Province, Falcons, Golden Lions, Griffons, Griquas, Leopards, Limpopo Blue Bulls, Pumas, Sharks, SWD Eagles and Western Province.

The tournament will take on a group format with the 15 high school teams being split into four groups, with four teams in the first three groups and three teams in the fourth group. The top two teams per group qualify for the School Sports 7s quarter-finals.

Spectators will be in for a treat on both days with live DJ sets, music, a safe kids’ play area, amazing prizes to give away from the sponsors, a beer tent and food area, and on Saturday, the big Test match between the Springboks and New Zealand will be screened live on the big screen as soon as the Varsity 7s and School 7s winners are crowned.
